WATERLOO — An unnamed female teacher was suspended without pay for the rest of the year after an incident that happened in her classroom this semester.

The Waterloo East High School teacher, who was not named by the Waterloo Community School District Board of Education, was suspended without pay retroactive to Sept. 14 and through the end of the fall semester, according to meeting minutes from the board’s closed-session meeting Monday.

The meeting minutes, released Friday, note three board members voted yes on suspension and one voted no, with the no vote instead asking for outright termination of the teacher.

The teacher was charged by the board to have failed to maintain classroom control. The board also mandated a reprimand be placed in her file for “the failure to maintain control and failure to report in a timely manner the incident that took place in her classroom,” according to the minutes.
