CEDAR FALLS — The Board of Education on Monday will consider approving a $161,878 bid to install a portable classroom building at Cedar Falls High School.

The board meets at 5:30 p.m. in the council chambers of City Hall, 220 Clay St.

One bid was received from Koch Construction of Cedar Falls. Officials projected costs for preparing the site, building the foundation and other expenses related to installing the portable at $150,000-$165,000. Additionally, it will cost $23,000 to move the building from its current location at Southdale Elementary School.


Cedar Falls Community Schools owns the portable, which includes two classrooms.

In other business, the board will:

  • Consider extending the contract of district auditor Carney, Alexander, Marold & Co. for two more years. The service would cost $20,400 for the current fiscal year and $20,900 for 2018-19.
  • Consider approving the purchase of two used 65-person capacity buses from School Bus Sales Co. in Waterloo for a total of $115,700.
  • Hold public hearings on the 2018-19 school year calendar, the Hansen Elementary School water main project, and elementary furniture purchases for a new school and two renovated schools.
