WATERLOO — East High Principal Marla Padget will become a district-level administrator for Waterloo Community Schools.
She replaces Cora Turner as executive director of student and at-risk services, effective July 1. The change is pending Board of Education approval. Turner is retiring from the district in October after nearly two decades of service.
“I look forward to serving all of the students and families in the Waterloo Schools,” Padget said in a news release.
The East graduate has been with the district for 27 years. Prior to taking the lead at East in 2012, she was Central Middle School’s principal for eight years. She has also served as Central’s assistant principal and athletic director. She started with the district as a teacher at East High School.
“Mrs. Padget has a wonderful history with Waterloo Schools and I am confident in her ability to serve our students and their families,” said Superintendent Jane Lindaman. “While we had many solid applicants, it was crystal clear her skill set was a match for this position.”
A search for her replacement will begin immediately.
