CEDAR FALLS — The Board of Education Monday will hold a public hearing on plans to move a portable classroom building to a different school.

The board meets at 5:30 p.m. in council chambers of Cedar Falls City Hall, 220 Clay St.

A portable at Southdale Elementary will be moved to Cedar Falls High School and installed there at an estimated cost of $175,000-$190,000 to help ease crowding. The move comes as Cedar Falls Community Schools’ plans to open a new elementary in the fall.

In other business, the board is expected to approve plans and specifications for a water main project and the purchase of elementary school furniture. The water main work is at Hansen Elementary School. Public hearings will be set for the project and the purchase.

The board is also expected to approve the 2016-17 school year audit.
