WATERLOO — Jared Seliger will begin his role as president of Allen College on Jan. 2.

Seliger has served as the director of Allen College’s nuclear medicine technology program for the past nine years and as associate chancellor for the past two years.

He earned a Ph.D. in higher education administration from Iowa State University, a master of business administration degree from the University of Northern Iowa, a bachelor of science degree from Loras College and a certificate in nuclear medicine technology from the University of Iowa.

A native of the Cedar Valley, Seliger and his wife, Miranda, are the parents of a 1-year-old daughter.

Seliger will succeed Jerry Durham, who has announced his retirement after serving as chancellor of Allen College since 2005. In Durham’s tenure, Allen College added 10 different degree tracks and expanded online education programs while often receiving national recognition for graduates outperforming peers on licensure exams. Durham has served to expand the identity and reach of Allen College as an educator of future health care providers.
