WAVERLY – One driver was injured when a small herd of deer meandered onto the roadway north of Waverly Friday night.

According to Bremer County sheriff’s deputies, a 2001 Chevrolet Impala and a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox collided with the deer on County Road V-14 around 7:25 p.m.

Ashley Ellis of Sumner, who was driving the Impala, received minor injuries and was transported to the Waverly Health Center by Waverly Ambulance, deputies said. The driver of the Equinox, Karli Kilcher of Fredericksburg, wasn’t injured.

A deer ended up inside one of the vehicles, and apparently died, deputies said.

Waverly police also responded to the accident.
