IOWA CITY – Rashod Develt Aldridge was pronounced dead due to cardiac arrest at 7:44 a.m. on Thursday at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Aldridge had been hospitalized due to complications from a chronic disease and the flu. Aldridge was 29 years old at the time of his death.
Aldridge had been serving a 10-year maximum sentence for the crimes of voluntary manslaughter and going armed with intent from Black Hawk County. His sentence began on March 10, 2017.
He had been sentenced to prison in the stabbing death of his father, 50-year-old Roosevelt “Velt” Aldridge, at their Waterloo home.
