WATERLOO – Waterloo police are investigating a robbery at a convenience store on Wednesday morning.

Details weren’t immediately available, but officers were called to Neighborhood Mart, 2100 Lafayette St., around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.

No serious injuries were reported. No description has yet been provided by police.

Police are also investigating a failed robbery that happened hours earlier at an auto parts store. In that case, a man in a ski mask entered the Auto Zone, 1430 Logan Ave., around 7:40 p.m. Tuesday with his hand in his pocket as if he was armed with a handgun. The clerk refused to hand over any money, and the would-be robber left empty-handed following an argument with the employee, police said.

The Tuesday night robber is described as a black male about 5 feet, 7 inches and 150 pounds. He was wearing dark clothing and tan gloves police said.

The robbery and attempted robbery came amid a string of hold ups in the Waterloo-Cedar Falls area in recent weeks.
