OSAGE, Iowa — Osage police are asking that anyone with information about someone entering houses uninvited to contact the department.

Police Lt. Jeremiah Johnson said the department has received reports that a person has been found in unlocked houses when people have arrived home or the person has walked into homes unannounced and without knocking.

When asked what that person is doing, the person responds by saying they are looking for someone and they give a name — never of a person who lives at the home.

When told the person they are looking for does not live there, “the person leaves without incident,” Johnson said.

It has occurred about a half a dozen times in the past two to three weeks. The most recent occurrence happened about a week ago. All incidents have occurred within the Osage city limits, he said.

Johnson said police are withholding a description of the person.

Johnson asks that if someone finds someone in their home to call 911 immediately.

He also urges people to lock their doors and vehicles.

If this is an incident that happened some time ago, police still want to hear about it. Those people should contact the department at (641) 732-3777.

How can anyone help you find this person without a description??? If this person is considered worth calling 911 about when you see them in your home, they pose a public threat and the public should have some idea what this person looks like. Perhaps someone in Osage or Mitchell County could identify the person and bring this situation to a more rapid close.
