CEDAR FALLS – A New Mexico resident who allegedly had a fake ID when he was arrested for shoplifting in Cedar Falls has been indicted on federal document charges.

A grand jury handed up the indictment charging Aldair Rodriguez, 23, also known as Aldair Reyez, of Albuquerque, with one count of unlawful possession of identification documents in U.S. District Court on Dec. 6. He was arrested on the charge last Tuesday.

According to court records, Cedar Falls police were called to a shoplifting at Von Maur at College Square Mall on Oct. 22 after Rodriguez allegedly put on a jacket and a hat from the store and attempted to leave without paying.

A search turned up a forged Social Security card and a forged resident alien card, records state, and he was arrested on state theft charges.
