FORT DODGE – A man who serving time for Fayette County drug charges and burglary charges in Webster County failed to return to a halfway house Monday night.

Andrew James Nielsen, 40, was placed on escape status when he didn’t show up at the Fort Dodge Residential Center, according to the Iowa Department of Corrections.

Nielsen is serving time for first-degree burglary in a 2009 case in Webster County and possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver case in 2005 in Fayette County, according to corrections officials. He was most recently transferred to the work release facility on July 20, 2017.

He is described as a white male, 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 167 pounds.

Court records show that in June 2017, corrections officials lodged a parole violation complaint against Nielsen when he missed appointments with his parole officer and allegedly traveled to New Mexico without permission.
