CEDAR FALLS – A hotel housekeeper and her friend have been arrested for allegedly stealing thousands of dollars with of electronics and jewelry from guests.

Tenacia Tion Kate Phillips, 21, of 1149 Bertch Ave., Waterloo, and Naukarias Takiya Dhinacha Tillman, 18, of 212 Denver St., Waterloo, were arrested Monday for first-degree theft. Bond was set at $10,000 apiece.

Officials at Days Inn on University Avenue went to police in November to report six MacBook laptop computers, an iPad, a Dell laptop, jewelry headphones and other items missing from rooms. In all, more than $10,000 worth of items were taken.

Phillips was a housekeeper at the hotel, and police allege she used her key to open rooms for Tillman and another person who allegedly took items on Nov. 16.

Investigators determined that a pair of Beats headphones that Tillman pawned on Nov. 26 had the same serial number as the stolen headphones, and one of the missing McBooks pinged its location in the 1100 block of Bertch Avenue near where Phillips lived, court records state.
