WATERLOO -- A Waterloo man has been arrested for allegedly robbing a convenience store a block from his Franklin Street house and sticking up a delivery driver next door to his home earlier this week.
Arthur Lee Wright III, 35, of 1815 Franklin St., also was arrested in the brazen holdup of a Logan Avenue discount store where a gunman ordered customers on the floor and took their money in addition to cash in the register.
Investigators received a Cedar Valley Crime Stoppers tips about Wright’s possible involvement in the crimes, which played out more than two days.
WATERLOO – Police are investigating the robbery if a pizza delivery driver Monday night.
Officers stopped Wright on Tuesday for allegedly missing court dates for a disorderly conduct charge stemming from a May incident where he allegedly threw a chair inside Covenant Medical Center and was pepper sprayed.
During the traffic stop Tuesday, Wright allegedly began acting oddly and was taken to a fire station to be examined by paramedics. He was arrested for three counts of second-degree burglary and taken to the Black Hawk County Jail where bond was set at $90,000.
Police said all three of the heists were pulled off with a BB gun, and no injuries were reported.
On Monday, a man wearing a ski mask entered the Yes Way store, 1976 Franklin St., at 3:28 a.m. and told the clerk to get on the floor or he’d shoot him. The suspect took cash and cigarettes and left.
That night about 7:45 p.m., a man with a ski mask robbed the Dollar General Store, 2935 Logan Ave., and held up customers before fleeing.
Then on Monday night, a Pizza Hut driver was sent to make a delivery at 1811 Franklin St., and a man threatened to shoot him and took the pizza and a bank bag.
Court records show Wright also is awaiting trial on misdemeanor theft charges for allegedly taking shoes and boxer shorts from the College Square Von Maur and alcohol from the Cedar Falls Wal-Mart in August.
