CEDAR RAPIDS | A federal jury has found an Oran man guilty of photographing minors engaged in sexual acts.

Juror convicted 76-year-old Benton Stong of enticing minors to engage in sexual conduct to create child pornography and four counts of possession of child pornography on Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Cedar Rapids. The verdict came after about a day of testimony and arguments and a little more than an hour of deliberations.

The charges stem from incidents in June and July 2012 when four boys, ages 10 through 12, had spent time, including overnight stays, at Stong's Oran apartment, where he ran a computer repair business, according to court records.

In July, some of the boys' parents became concerned and went to the Fayette County Sheriff's Office. Deputies searched Stong's home and found child pornography, including videos of the boys and images from the internet, records state.

The videos were taken inside Stong's apartment, and his voice can be heard on some of the movies, records state.

Stong had been facing state sexual abuse and sexual exploitation charges in Fayette County District Court in connection with the incidents, but the state charges were dismissed in June 2013 when Stong was indicted in federal court.
