WATERLOO — Police now believe at least one shot was fired inside a Waterloo bar during an assault Saturday night.

Officers were called to the Fusion Bar on Bourland Avenue on Saturday after Rasim Husidic allegedly pointed a handgun at an ex-girlfriend and a bartender and then pistol whipped and tried to shoot a patron who intervened.

Investigators said Husidic pulled the trigger twice, racking the slide in between, but the weapon didn’t discharge, and police later found live rounds with firing pin indentations on the floor.

On Monday, police found a bullet hole in the business’s ceiling, indicating one bullet was fired inside the establishment, said Capt. David Mohlis with the Waterloo Police Department. He said it wasn’t yet clear at what point the pistol was fired during the incident.

Meanwhile, police continue to search for the gun.

After the attack, Husidic fled the bar and was found at an acquaintance’s home on Grant Avenue, and police believe he may have discarded the firearm somewhere in between.
