WAVERLY -- The Wartburg College Symphonic Band will perform a benefit concert for the Cedar Bend Humane Society at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 17 at St. Mary Catholic Church.

The Newman Catholic High School Band from Mason City, under the direction of 2016 Wartburg graduate A.J. Skinner, also will perform. Donations will be accepted on behalf of the Cedar Bend Humane Society.

Coin Club hosts
monthly meeting

WATERLOO -- The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Coin Club will host its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Waterloo Center for the Arts, 225 Commercial St., Schoitz Room III.

Dues are payable at this meeting. Steve Feller will give a talk on the “New Orleans Mint, and an auction will follow.

Visitors are welcome and may bid on the auction lots if they wish. Register at the front table.

Reinbeck church
to host fish fry

REINBECK -- The Knights of Columbus of Holy Family Parish (Dike,Grundy Center, Hudson, Parkersburg, Reinbeck) will host a fish fry from 5 to 7 p.m. March 23 at St. Gabriel Church, rural Reinbeck.

The menu also includes baked potatoes, corn, rolls, coleslaw, bar and beverage.

Home, garden
show slated

DECORAH -- The 35th annual KDEC Spring Home, Sport & Garden Show will return to Decorah High School from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 11.

The annual Sunflower ChildCare Pancake Brunch will kick off the morning events at 9:30 a.m. in the high school cafeteria adjacent to the exhibits.

About 80 exhibitors are expected at the show, displaying products and services ranging from home improvements and leisure-time pursuits to lawn and garden tools and machines.

Admission to the show is free.

Habitat auction
slated March 2

CEDAR FALLS -- The 19th annual spring benefit auction and dinner for Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity will take place March 2 at the Hilton Garden Inn, 7213 Nordic Drive.

The event starts at 6 p.m. with a cash bar and silent auction, with dinner at 7 p.m. and an 8 p.m. live auction with Gary Kroeger, auctioneer.

This year's featured auction item is two tickets to "Hamilton" at the Des Moines Civic Center on July 4.

Cost is $45 per person. Make reservations by Feb. 22 at WeBuildHabitat.org or 235-9946.
