WATERLOO — The East High School Art Club has organized a Cedar Valley High Schools Juried Student Art Show, planned for 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Black’s Building downtown.
An awards presentation begins at 5 p.m. with a reception to follow. The event is free and open to the public.
Members of the art club requested entries from 30 high schools across seven counties in the Cedar Valley area; more than 200 student submissions were received.
The club partnered with the University of Northern Iowa Department of Art, Wartburg College Department of Art, Waterloo Center for the Arts and Hearst Center for the Arts to present these works at an exhibition.

WAVERLY — The Wartburg Community Symphony Orchestra will give a holiday concert Saturday in Neumann Auditorium on the Wartburg College campus.
The 3 p.m. concert will be followed by a reception in the Bachmann Fine Arts Center lobby.
Dancers from local studios will perform to Tchaikovsky’s “Nutcracker Suite” after intermission.

DIKE — The Grundy Area Women’s Connection will host “The Greatest Story” event at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Dike Community Building, 540 Main St.
Ceceilia Schreves of St. Charles will be the speaker, and Dot McGrane of Wellsburg will feature jewelry and other creations. Dike High School will provide singers.
The event is sponsored by Stonecroft Ministries.
