CHARLES CITY | A Charles City man has been charged with two drug-related felonies.
The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office arrested Dalton Betsinger, 22, of Charles City, on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia following a March 13 traffic stop at South Main and Second streets in Charles City.
Betsinger was also cited for stopping in the traveled portion of the roadway.
The sheriff’s office said in a release that it seized multiple illegal items during the stop. A search warrant at a hotel room Betsinger rented in the 100 block of South Grand Avenue allegedly yielded several additional drug-related items.
Authorities arrested Betsinger on two outstanding warrants in the 900 block of E Street on March 30. He was charged with possession with the intent to deliver methamphetamines, a class B felony, and possession with the intent to deliver marijuana, a class D felony.
While arresting Betsinger on those warrants, deputies allegedly found marijuana on his person, leading to an additional possession charge.
Betsinger’s bond was set at $105,000 cash.
Court documents indicate Betsinger had an initial appearance with a magistrate judge March 30 and was released. He has been appointed a public defender and has a preliminary hearing scheduled April 13 in Floyd County District Court.
