CEDAR FALLS — The Business and Professional Women’s Club of Cedar Falls will present the award for this year’s Cedar Valley Woman of the Year at its annual Salute To Women event Oct. 17 at the Hilton Gardens in Cedar Falls.

This year’s winner is the Rev. Cathy F. Young, a resident of Waterloo since 1970. Her 48 years of service in the Cedar Valley have included 26 years as a minister, a public school teacher and Black Hawk County Family and Children’s Council director.

Young’s volunteer community service includes: co-founder of Waterloo Schools Foundation; Friends of the Gallagher Bluedorn Board; Otto Schoitz Foundation Board; Western Home Board; Juvenile Diabetes Foundation; Salvation Army; Cedar Valley’s Promise Board; Wheaton Franciscan Board; Iowa Autism Council; Black Hawk Area Religions Coalition; and eight other agencies.

She will be honored with the award at the fundraiser dinner for BPW, which raises money toward scholarships for nontraditional students in the area.
