MUSCATINE, Iowa --- The Muscatine County Sheriff’s Office has released the identity of a Muscatine man whose body was discovered in a wooded area.

Larry Weggen’s body was discovered by authorities after a three-hour search Wednesday night.

The sheriff’s office responded to a report of a missing hunter about 6 p.m. in the wooded area southeast of the intersection of Cranston Road and 231st Street in Muscatine County.

Weggen’s body was found about 9 p.m.

A cause of death was not immediately released, pending the results of an investigation, but the sheriff’s office said it appears Weggen, 63, died of natural causes.

The area was searched by the Muscatine County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Iowa State Patrol, Letts Fire Department, Muscatine County Search the Rescue and family and friends.

Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home, with a private service and burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
