WATERLOO, Iowa --- Allen Hospital was ranked No. 1 for overall cardiac services in Iowa on a HealthGrades study.
The hospital also earned the No. 1 spot for cardiology services, coronary interventional procedures and was designated a recipient of the HealthGrades Coronary Intervention Excellence Award for the fourth consecutive year.
HealthGrades is a leading independent health care ratings organization. No hospital can opt in or out of being rated, and no hospital pays to be rated.
The 2011 ratings are based on an October 2010 HealthGrades study. Allen Hospital was the only Iowa hospital to be ranked among the top 5 percent of hospitals in the nation for coronary interventional procedures in the study and the only Iowa hospital to rank in the top 10 percent for cardiology services. Nearly 5,000 American hospitals were included in the study, which examined mortality rates and complication rates from government data.
