WATERLOO ---Waterloo Police have arrested a second person in connection with the burglary and armed robbery incident at 119 Conger St. Wednesday morning.

Corey Damone Crawley, 18, of 305 Anthony St., has been charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver (marijuana), assault on a peace officer (D felony) and second-degree criminal mischief

Crawley is being held in the Black Hawk County Jail on $225,000 bond.

Crawley is the man that police shot as police descended on the crime scene and attempted to detain suspects fleeing the area.

A woman at 119 Conger St. was able to run outside after two people entered the home with guns about 10:50 a.m. Wednesday. She flagged down a passing police officer.

Then, the two people inside and one waiting outside fled the area.

One of the fleeing suspects, later identified as Crawley, got in a vehicle that was parked in the 100 block of Center Street. Responding officers surrounded Crawley in their patrol cars.

Crawley then sped backward in his car, ramming into one of the occupied patrol cars that was sitting behind him. As he attempted to flee, Waterloo Police Officer Kristen Loney, a 10-year veteran, who was outside of her patrol car at the time, fired several rounds into his vehicle striking Crawley.

Crawley was transported to Allen Hospital where he was admitted for treatment of his wounds and eventually released to police custody Friday.

Earlier, police arrested another man: Rashadd Cortez Wright, 20, of 331 Halstead St., charged with first-degree robbery.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the Waterloo Police Department conducted the investigation into this incident. The Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office, the Iowa State Patrol and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources assisted as well.

As part of department policy, Loney was placed on administrative leave pending further investigation into this incident.

The third suspect has not been arrested.

This is an ongoing investigation, and no more information will be released at this time.
