WATERLOO - Two area doctors face discipline from the Iowa Board of Medicine.

Dr. Lee O. Fagre, 54, a family practice physician in Waverly, entered into a settlement agreement with the board for allegedly failing to provide appropriate care to patients.

Dr. Henry W. Snead, 52, a physician who practices in Waterloo, has had formal disciplinary charges filed against him by the board for violating Iowa state law and engaging in unethical and/or unprofessional conduct.

The board charged that Fagre failed to perform a timely newborn assessment and entered the wrong time in a patient's medical record at the Waverly hospital in January 2006. Fagre has since resigned his obstetrical privileges. The board also noted that Fagre resigned his hospital privileges to perform endoscopic procedures because of concerns about multiple perforation complications.

Under the settlement agreement, Fagre agreed not to practice obstetrics and was placed on probation for five years. He also must complete a board-approved supervised education program, and the board issued a public reprimand.

The board has set a hearing date Dec. 16 for Snead.

Snead pleaded guilty to harassment and disorderly conduct in February after being charged with assaulting his fiancee during a domestic dispute in 2007.

The board filed its charges against Snead as a result of those criminal charges.
