CEDAR FALLS --- A Malcolm Price Laboratory School teacher has been named the school's interim director.
Lyn Countryman has 20 years of experience teaching at the school and the University of Northern Iowa in the Department of Biology. She will take over the administrative role effective Aug. 1.
Countryman earned a Ph.D. in science education from the University of Iowa and has board certification as an early adolescent generalist. She has been active in the Foundations of Excellence process, which focuses on the first-year experience for college students. She is active at both the state and national levels in science education.
Bridgette Wagoner, the current interim director, accepted the position of director of educational services for the Waverly-Shell Rock schools.
Virginia Arthur, the university's associate provost for faculty affairs, said a search for a permanent replacement will not begin until later this year.
