EVANSDALE, Iowa --- July 13 will be the one-year anniversary of the disappearance of cousins Lyric Cook-Morrissey and Elizabeth Collins.

To mark the date, Chris Webb is organizing the Memorial Ride and Drive for the Girls. The ride, which is just more than 125 miles, will begin and end at Lofty's Lounge, 3480 Lafayette Road, and will include stops in Quasqueton, Vinton and Dysart.

"Round trip, with stops, it's about a five-hour adventure," Webb said.

Webb organized a similar ride last year that attracted 116 motorcycles and 15 cars. This year he hopes to attract between 400 and 500 bikes and 50 to 100 cars.

Webb said the tragedy of what happened to Lyric and Elizabeth, whose bodies were found about five months after their disappearance, has brought people closer together.

"An event like this brings awareness to the situation and brings people together," he said. "You will have a good time and meet some great people."

Registration forms are available at Cobblestone Creek in Evansdale, Silver Eagle Harley-Davidson in Waterloo, online at www.creativeimpactco.com/ride-and-drive-2013 and from Webb, who can be reached at 504-1643. Forms should be mailed or returned to Cobblestone Creek, 3445 Lafayette Road.

Participants can register for $20, which includes a T-shirt.

Although prior registration by July 1 is recommended so T-shirts can be ordered, participants also can sign up between 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. on the day of the event. The ride begins at 11 a.m.

In conjunction with the Ride and Drive, a dinner will be offered at 3 p.m. at Lofty's for volunteers who helped search for the girls.

A raffle and 50/50 drawing will be held following the ride. Items include signed jerseys from the Detroit Lions and Chicago Blackhawks and a large, flat-screen TV donated by Heather and Drew Collins, the parents of Elizabeth Collins. A silent auction also may be held.

Four bands will perform in the Lofty's parking lot: Smokin' Guns, Minitallica, Whiskey and Woe and My Life for Change.

Food also will be available.

Proceeds from the event will be split, with half going to Cedar Valley Crime Stoppers and half going to the Angels Park memorial at Meyers Lake.
