EVANSDALE | It's been one year today since the remains of Lyric Cook-Morrissey and Elizabeth Collins were found in rural Bremer County, the the case remains an open, active investigation, authorities said.

Investigators said they are still getting calls regarding tips into the slaying of the two little girls. Cook-Morrissey was 10 and her cousin, Elizabeth, was 8, when they went missing while riding their bicycles in Evansdale on July 13, 2012, in Evansdale.

Their remains were found by hunters on Dec. 5, 2012, in Seven Bridges Park in rural Bremer County, about 25 miles from where the girls were last seen.

Gerald Meyers of the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, said investigators have had more than 1,100 leads.

Officials continue to search for any link to Michael Klunder, who police say abducted two girls from Dayton in May and killed one before killing himself.

Meyers says no evidence linking Klunder to the Evansdale case has been found, but investigators haven't ruled him out either.
