This humble, utilitarian fabric is a fresh look for summer in accessories and home furnishings. Look for burlap pillows, upholstered chairs, table runners, place mats, wall hangings, lamp shades, wall coverings and more.
Lengths of burlap are being wrapped around cylindrical glass vases and wreath forms, used to make bulletin boards, tote bags and mats around framed photographs and artwork. Burlap can bridge the seasons — it also looks great in fall!
For DIYers, burlap can be found in a variety of textures and colors, and it usually feels rough. Read the care label, and if possible, dunk the fabric in diluted liquid fabric softener and then let dry. If possible, keep out of the washing machine — agitation might pull apart the coarse weave.
