CEDAR FALLS — The James & Meryl Hearst Center for the Arts is presenting the exhibition, “The Planets, Reimagined by Gary Kelley” Saturday through May 24.
The Cedar Falls artist brought Gustav Holst’s magnum opus to life for a unique collaboration with the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony Orchestra in 2007. This reimagined presentation takes Kelley’s artwork and the cinema-quality HD presentation with Scott W. Smith to new heights.
A reception is planned from 9 to 10:45 p.m. Saturday at the Hearst Center for the Arts, following Saturday’s WCFSO concert at the Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center.
The reception, courtesy of Friends of the Hearst, will feature musical accompaniment by University of Northern Iowa harpist Suzanne Sontag.
Admission is $10 for the public and $5 for Friends of the Hearst members. Call 273-8641 for tickets or visit the center in advance at 304 W. Seerley Blvd., or pay at the door the evening of the event.
Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Friday; and 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday; closed on Mondays. The Hearst Center is open at 9 a.m. every Saturday during class seasons.
