WATERLOO — The 11th annual fundraising event Beers To You and Gourmet Too will take place Jan. 28 at the Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center. The event raises funds for the Friends of the Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center to put on programs such as the Kaleidoscope series for youth.

This year’s event will feature two keynote speakers, Teresa Albert and Chris Priebe, both from Millstream Brewery in Amana. Millstream, founded in 1985, is the oldest operational brewery in Iowa.

Priebe is Millstream’s head brewer and started his brewing career in 1993 at the Dubuque Star Brewery. He is a trained brewer, having received his degree in 1997 at the Siebel Institute of Brewing in Chicago. Priebe is one of the most award-winning brewers in the Midwest. In 2010 his Schild Brau Amber received a Gold Medal at the World Beer Cup.

Albert has run the marketing and sales end of Millstream Brewery since 2001, working with distributors and coordinating all brewery activities and events.he brewery.

The keynote address will be at 3 p.m., and the tasting of more than 100 varieties of beer and food from more than 20 area restaurants begins at 4 p.m.

A VIP experience featuring a private tasting begins at 2 p.m. Jason Wallace from Seattle-based beer importer Merchant du Vin will be at the VIP portion, providing sanokes and discussing the many beers imported by Merchant du Vin. Also included in the VIP experience is a custom printed Beers To You and Gourmet Too canvas bag, along with other promotional items from Merchant du Vin.
