WATERLOO — Viola B. Lenius, 96, of Waterloo, died Sunday, Dec. 3, at UnityPoint Health-Allen Hospital.
She was born April 30, 1921, in Fayette County, daughter of Fred Paul and Bertha Fink Brickman. She married Elmer Lenius on July 25, 1941, in Fairbank; he preceded her in death July 11, 2001.
Viola was a homemaker and mother. She was a member of Good Shephard Lutheran Church, joining with her family shortly after it opened, and was active in the church quilting circle.
Survived by: two sons, James E. (Connie) Lenius of Reinbeck and Gary G. (Wanda) Lenius of Mesa, Ariz.; a daughter, Shirley A. (Leonard) Smith of Waterloo; five grandchildren, Toni Marie Jameson, Tyler Smith, Jeffrey Lenius, Carrie Linnenbrink and Bryn Lenius; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Arlen Brickman of Waverly ; and two sisters, Wilma Rueber of Strawberry Point and Frances Sievers of Des Moines.
Preceded in death by: her parents; and her husband, Elmer, five brothers Edgar, Clarence, Raymond, Wilbur and Harold Brickman; and a sister, Evelyn Diercks.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, at Good Shephard Lutheran Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, at Garden View Chapel.
