VINTON — Sue Hollenbeck, 71, died Monday, March 5, as the result of a farm accident.
She was born Jan. 10, 1947, in Vinton, daughter of Albert and Viola Walter Vaupel. On June 1, 1969, she married Arlan Hollenbeck at the First Baptist Church in Vinton.
Sue attended school in Vinton, graduating in 1965. She graduated and received her teaching certification from the University of Northern Iowa and taught elementary school in Orange Township, Reinbeck and Vinton, retiring after 40-plus years.
Survived by: her mother, of Vinton; her husband; her sons, Dr. Ryan (Amanda) Hollenbeck of Cedar Rapids and Joel (Mandi Collar) Hollenbeck of Vinton; her sisters, Shirley Kusel of Brooklyn, Patty (Jim) Anderson of Cedar Rapids; and four grandchildren, Malea, Adalyn, Piper and Max.
Preceded in death by: her father; and a brother, Gary, in infancy.
Services: 11 a.m. Friday, March 9, at the First Baptist Church, with burial in Maplewood Cemetery, Vinton. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 8, at Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home in Vinton and for an hour before services Friday at the church.

Sue enjoyed reading, cooking, sewing and gardening but her greatest joy came from time spent with her family and grandchildren.
