DENVER — Ronald Wayne “Ron” Parkhurst, 71, of Denver, died Saturday, Dec. 2, at UnityPoint Health-Allen Hospital, Waterloo, under hospice care.
He was born Oct. 17, 1946, in Hampton, son of Dale and Evelyn Stock Parkhurst. He married Paulette J. Wilson on Oct. 2, 1971.
Ron served as a corporal in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War, where he earned a Purple Heart. He worked at John Deere for 34 years, retiring in September 2006.
Survived by: his wife; a son, Shawn (Wendy); a daughter, Kimberly Gomez; two granddaughters, Whitney and Christina Parkhurst; two grandsons, John Cade and David Little; three brothers, Bob (Sue), Rick (Sherry) and Randy; and two sisters, Rose Morton and Radine (Leon) Fowler.
Preceded in death by: his parents; and a son-in-law, Brad Gomez.
Memorial services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, at Garden View Chapel, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, where full military rites will be conducted by the Denver American Legion Post 653 and U.S. Marine Corps Funeral Honor Detail. Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time.

He was a loving husband to his wife of 46 years, father and grandpa. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, camping, golf, designing and building projects and living in the country. His passion and determination in life is inspiring.
