WATERLOO — Otavious Brown, 21, of Waterloo, died Sunday, July 17, of a gunshot wound.
He was born July 3, 1995, in Attala County, Kosciusko, Miss., son of Alfred Bentley and Samantha Brown.
He was employed at Tyson Foods.
Survived by: his parents; grandmothers Elizabeth Bentley, Nola Mae Brown and Lucy Mae Brown; siblings, Will’Jameous Brown, Kimberly Brown, Key’on Birden, Ray’Quan Birden, LaDarrius Bankhead, Jazmine Sailor, Raymond Birden Jr., Paris Lyes, Scottie Lyes, Robert Lyes, Alfred (Tiffany) Brown, Anquanette Malon, Cortney Wilder, RaeQuesha Scott and Kendric Birden; and stepfather, Raymond (Tenesha) Birden.
Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, July 23, at Union Missionary Baptist Church, Waterloo, with burial in Bethlehem Cemetery in Sallis, Miss.; visitation will be for two hours before services Saturday at the church. Sanders Funeral Service is assisting the family.
Memorials: may be directed to the family at 1754 Newell St., where they will be receiving friends.
Otavious was a loving son, uncle, brother and friend. He enjoyed listening to rap, blues and the gospel. He loved playing basketball and his favorite teams were Chicago Bulls and Pittsburgh Steelers. He loved track and was part of of the fastest track team in the city. In eighth grade he broke a record that stood for over 41 years. Most of all he loved his family.
