WATERLOO — Lillian “Lil” M. Buckles, 88, of Waterloo, died Saturday, Feb. 3, at UnityPoint Health-Allen Hospital.
She was born April 11, 1929, in Wellsburg, daughter of Chris and Florence Ascher Finke. She married Robert D. Buckles on Dec. 30, 1969, in Chicago. He died June 13, 2004.
Lil graduated from Iowa Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in Des Moines and was a registered nurse for 20 years at Schoitz Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1978.
She was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls.
Survived by: a brother, Art (Jan) Finke of West Des Moines; two stepsons, Steve Buckles of Waterloo and David (Benneth) Buckles of Kansas City, Mo.; a stepdaughter, Carol Buckles of Waterloo; three stepgranddaughters, Cynthia, Lisa and Sara; six stepgreat-grandchildren, Gabriel, Nicholas, Brayden, Dylan, Dallas and Annelise; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; and a brother, Elmer.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls, with burial at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today, Feb. 6, at Locke Funeral Home, Waterloo.
