WATERLOO — JoAnn Carlene Meyer, 82, died Thursday, Nov. 30, at Ravenwood Nursing Center in Waterloo.
She was born Jan. 16, 1935, to Carlene and Carl Mohling. She married Victor Edwin Meyer.
JoAnn was employed for many years at Allen Hospital and later at Hawkeye Community College. She volunteered at various places throughout the community. JoAnn was a recipient of the Governor’s Volunteer Award.
Survived by: two sisters, Lois and Shirley; two brothers, Willard and David; three daughters, Vickie Rardin, Jana (Bryan) Erickson and Shelly (Jeff) Garland; four grandchildren, Andrea (Luke) Parker, Matthew (Abby) Rardin, Brittany Steen and Katelyn Steen; three stepgrandchildren, Brendan (Kayla) Erickson, Bryanna (Jason) Grimes and Belinda Erickson, 11 great-grandchildren, Kaden, Kaley, Libby, Karley, Jack, Kamryn, Nash, Connor, Makenna, Blaire and Ryann.
Preceded in death by: her parents, a brother, Harold; and a great-granddaughter, Halle.
Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, at Grace Reformed Church, Waterloo.
Memorials: may be directed to the family.
She will be remembered as a bright and shining light of selflessness in the numerous community programs that she served as well as being a loving mother and grandmother, compassionate friend, lover of music and an avid card player.
