CLARKSVILLE - James "Jim" Walter Hoerman, 81, of Clarksville, died Wednesday, Aug. 31, at Allen Hospital in Waterloo of natural causes.

He was born March 12, 1930, in Cedar Falls, son of Walter and Evelyn Marston Hoerman. He married Marian Hirsch Oct. 19, 1951, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She died Sept. 24, 2009.

He graduated from Clarksville High School in 1949. The couple farmed with his parents northeast of Clarksville. Mr. Hoerman served in the U.S. Army from 1952, until he was honorably discharged in 1953. He was a Sergeant during the Korean Conflict, serving in Korea. He was a member of First United Church of Christ, Pleasant Valley in rural Clarksville.

Survived by: two daughters, Branda (Jerry) Schunk of Clarksville and Randi of Waverly; a son, Larry (Brenda) of Clarksville; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Vern of Wisconsin.

Preceded in death by: a grandson; and a twin brother and sister in infancy.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home, with burial in Lynwood Cemetery, both in Clarksville. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, and will continue for an hour before services Tuesday at the funeral home.
