FAIRBANK — Jack L. Duffy, 85, of Fairbank, died Sunday, April 28, at Oelwein Healthcare of natural causes.
He was born June 4, 1927, in rural Dunkerton, son of Leo J. and Anna A. Kane Duffy. He married Dorothy Elizabeth Kane on Oct. 24, 1949, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank.
Mr. Duffy started out as a farmer, followed by working as a mechanic, then as a plumber and electrician for many years, and finally he worked for the city of Fairbank, retiring after 18 years. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Fairbank, and the Fairbank Knights of Columbus as well as a member of the Fairbank Fire Department.
Survived by: his wife; four sons, Mike (Judy), Tim (Jeanette) and Tony (Sherry), all of Fairbank, and Ted (Susan) of LaCrescent, Minn.; four daughters, Clarice (Steve) Levey of Lindstrom, Minn., Carol Duffy of Cedar Falls, Nancy (Rich) Wallace of Cedar Rapids and Norma (Kevin) Westendorf of Readlyn; a daughter in-law, Nina Duffy of Dibble, Okla.; 27 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Gladys Mahoney of Oelwein, Kaye Nelson of Rockford, Ill., Bettie Anderson of Harlan and Audrey Selander of Birmingham, Mich.
Preceded in death by: his parents; a son, Mark; two grandchildren, Christopher Wallace and Joshua Menuey; a brother, Warren; and a sister, Sister Mary Carol Duffy.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Woods Funeral Home, Fairbank.
