CLUTIER - Joseph C. Svoboda, 75, of Clutier, died Thursday, April 24, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, following a sudden illness.

He was born Jan. 6, 1933, near Clutier, son of Charles and Mildred Podhajsky Svoboda. He married Carole Martin on June 8, 1957.

He graduated from Toledo High School in 1951 and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Mr. Svoboda was a lifelong farmer in the Clutier area.

Survived by: his wife; three daughters, Anne (Steve) Ausdemore of Wisner, Neb., Connie (James Tielebein) Svoboda of Independence and Debra (Keith) Epp of West Des Moines; two sons, Timothy (Cheryl) of Kansas City, Mo., and Randall (Liz Belgarde) of Shueyville; six grandchildren; three brothers, Bernard (Mary), Laurence (Marlus) and John (Marilyn), all of Clutier; and three sisters, Martha (Charles) Dolezal of Toledo, Dorothy (Lawrence) Hagerty of Tama and Ludmilla (John) Perkins of Cresco.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Tama, with burial in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery, rural Clutier. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, Tama, where there will be a 3:30 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil service.

Memorial fund: has been established.
