PARKERSBURG - Fred E. Everts, 88, of Parkersburg, died Saturday, Dec. 24, at Sartori Memorial Hospital, Cedar Falls, of natural causes.
He was born Feb. 15, 1923, in Grundy County near Parkersburg, son of George and Jennie Syhlman Everts. He married LaVerne Huisman on Oct. 8, 1943, at Calvary Baptist Church, Parkersburg.
Mr. Everts graduated from the Parkersburg High School in 1942. He farmed south of Parkersburg and also worked seasonally at the Ackley Canning Factory, Clay Equipment Co., Chamberlain Manufacturing Co. and Luhring Monuments. He retired from farming in 1985. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survived by: his wife; four daughters, Ardyce (John) Hartley of Nuevo, Calif., Marie (Mart) Butenhoff of Marshalltown, LeeAnn (Jeff) Saylor of Benton, Wis., and Gail (Terry) Ridder of Shell Rock; a son, Glen (Theresa) of Dumont; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a brother, Marvin (Marcedes) of Parkersburg; and a sister, Esther (Charles) Stickley of Hurley, N.Y.
Preceded in death by: an infant daughter, Linda; a sister, Alice Church; and a brother, William.
Services: 10 a.m. Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, both in Parkersburg. Visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home, Parkersburg, and for an hour before services Thursday at the church.
