WAVERLY — Dean Howard “Deaner” Sands, 78, of Waverly, died at home Monday, Sept. 11.
He was born Aug. 10, 1939, in Delaware County, son of Louis Theodore and Anna Mae Evert Sands. On Sept. 10, 1960, he married Kay A. Baird, and they later divorced.
He graduated from Plainfield High School in 1957. Dean was employed at John Deere from January of 1959 until retiring in March 1989.
Survived by: a son, Brock (Cathy) of Waverly; three daughters, Paula (Steve) Kaiser of Colorado Springs, Colo., Darlene (Bob) Campbell of Janesville and Rachelle Hahn (David Wolff) of Waverly; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Larry (Lupe) of Waverly and Ron (Millie) of Gresham, Ore.; and a brother-in-law, Veryl Groen of Waverly.
Preceded in death by: his parents; and two sisters, Connie Ingle and Bonnie Groen.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, with burial in the Harlington Cemetery, both in Waverly. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly.
