WATERLOO — Dan Shannon, 80, of Waterloo, died Sunday, March 11, at Pinnacle Specialty Care, Cedar Falls, of natural causes.
He was born Jan. 20, 1938, in Fairbank, son of Daniel and Veronica (Weber) Shannon. He married Deanna Roedeske on Aug. 7, 1965, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank.
Dan graduated from Immaculate Conception Catholic High School in Fairbank in 1955. He managed East Side Liquor and later worked at the UNI Physical Plant, retiring in 1995. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Dan was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church, Waterloo, AMVETS life member, and Fairbank American Legion Fortsch Duffy Post No. 552
Survived by: his wife; a son, Kevin Shannon of Waterloo; a granddaughter, Dannielle Shannon of New Hartford; two sisters, Colleen (Joe) Bovy of Fairbank and Marian (Pat) Woods of Jesup; a brother, Dale (Dorothy) Shannon of Raymond; a sister in law, Susan Shannon, Fairbank; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by: a brother, Pat Shannon.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 15, at St. Edward Catholic Church, Waterloo, with burial at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Fairbank, with military rites by the Iowa Army National Guard Honor Guard and Fairbank American Legion Fortsch Duffy Post 552. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, with a 4 p.m. rosary and 6:30 p.m. vigil service at Locke Funeral Home, Waterloo.
