DUNKERTON — Arthur Charles Kass, 95, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Dunkerton, died Monday, Sept. 11, at his home at Bickford Cottage in Cedar Falls.
He was born Dec. 11, 1921, in Orleans, Neb., son of Charles Peter Kass and Mary Ann Thoma Kass. On Oct. 27, 1948, he married Rosalie Marie Sadler at St. Athanasius Catholic Church in Jesup. She preceded him in death Sept. 4, 1984.
Arthur attended school in Nebraska and later in Iowa. Arthur farmed all his life and was on the board of directors for the Dunkerton Co-op for 19 years. He also worked for the Black Hawk County Assessor’s office. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church – Barclay, rural Dunkerton.
Survived by: a daughter, Colleen (Larry) Angen of Dunkerton; a son, Kenny (Charlene) of Dunkerton; four grandchildren, David Angen, Stephen (Ashlie) Angen, Kim Kass and Jenny (Steve) Ferson; four stepgrandchildren, David (Kim) DeBuhr, Tracey (Scott) Stillwell, Luke Fettkether and Stephanie Turner; four great-grandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by: his parents; three brothers, Alfred, Raymond and Arnold; six sisters, Rosa Ambrosy Barth, Armella Sadler, Marcella Ambrosy, Magdeline Kohler, Philomena Phillips and Mathilda Phillips.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, at St. Francis Catholic Church – Barclay, rural Dunkerton, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today, Sept. 13, at White Funeral Home, Jesup, where there will be a 4 p.m. parish rosary and 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation will continue for an hour before services Thursday at the church.
