WATERLOO — Allen Kaestner, 69, of Vinton, formerly of Waterloo, died Thursday, April 18, at Virginia Gay Hospital, Vinton, of cancer.

He was born Dec. 29, 1943, in Waterloo, son of Ferdinand and Evelyn Jans Kaestner. He married Pamela Pohlman on Dec. 14, 1968, in Waterloo; they later divorced.

He graduated from West High School in 1963. Mr. Kaestner retired from Weissman Steel due to a disability in 1971.

Survived by: a brother, Larry (Claudia) of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by: his parents; and a brother, David.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Locke Funeral Home, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Memorials: may be directed to Virginia Gay Hospital or North Star Community Services of Benton County.
