The Proud Image Chorus was incorporated in Iowa in 1980 as a nonprofit educational and fraternal organization, with the announced purpose of becoming the best men's singing group in the world. Through its dedication and hard work, Proud Image has won four Central States District championships. The Proud Image is affiliated with the Barbershop Harmony Society.
The Proud Image annually presents a show in the spring of the year. We also perform at various events throughout the year, tailoring each performance to the time of the year and the audience we are performing for. On Valentine's Day, the Proud Image Chorus sends out several tuxedo-clad quartets to perform Singing Valentines for loved ones throughout the Cedar Valley. In addition to a love song, the recipient gets a red rose, a Polaroid photograph of the event and a hug and a kiss (Hershey's, of course). This is an excellent way to say, "I love you" at Valentine's time. In addition, the chorus is available to perform throughout the year.
The Proud Image also has a philanthropic mission. We have helped out with fund-raisers for other organizations and have supported music in our schools by donating money to the vocal music programs at both East and West high schools as well as at Central Middle School.
