Congratulations to Father Dennis Colter, pastor of Queen of Peace Parish in Waterloo, celebrating his 40th anniversary of ordination to the priesthood.

Father Colter was born in Waterloo Dec. 19, 1940, to Leo and Erma (Evans) Colter. He is a graduate of Loras College and studied theology at the University of Louvain, Belgium. He was ordained in Louvain on June 25, 1966, by Bishop Victor J. Reed.

In 2000, he was appointed pastor of Sacred Heart, Fillmore, and he was assigned to his current position at Queen of Peace in May 2003. Since 2004, he has also been pastoral coordinator of Columbus High School and the Cedar Valley Catholic School System.

Queen of Peace Parish will host a reception in honor of Colter today, following the 8 a.m., 10 a.m., noon and 4 p.m. Masses. All are welcome to attend.
