Award

Troop 6531 of Waterloo has earned the Silver Award, the highest award Girl Scouts in grades six through eight can achieve.

Troop members Kyla Wright with Elizabeth Bedard printed and laminated books for children to read and listen to while waiting at doctor’s appointments, earning them this prestigious award.

Troop 6531 worked with the medical clinics to provide educational books for the children to read and listen to while in the waiting room. After purchasing supplies, the Girl Scouts found local celebrities, medical staff, and other residents of the community to record themselves reading the books out loud to ensure even young children without the ability to read are able to enjoy this opportunity.
