SUMNER — Loren and Donna Abitz Piehl will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, at the Sumner American Legion Hall, 113 E. First St., hosted by their family.
They were married Dec. 9, 1967, in St. Luke Lutheran Church, Wheaton, Kan.
Loren worked in the farm implement field for several years and recently retired from Hawkeye Stages, where he had been a charger bus driver for 20 years. Donna retired from child care several years ago and continues her work as the church secretary. They also currently farm.
Loren and Donna are parents of Renée and Ray Wheaton of Newmarket, N.H., Darwin and Connie Piehl of Cedar Falls, Gerry and Jennifer Piehl of Aurora, Ill., and Larry Piehl and Ann Harms of Tripoli. There are also nine grandchildren, Matthew and Jacob Wheaton, Megan, Mya and Macy Piehl, Micah and Magdalene Piehl, Katelynn and Connor Piehl and bonus grandchildren, Eric and Meagan Gogola.
