The Cedar Falls Community Theatre is excited to announce the cast for JOHN LOVES MARY, a comedy by Norman Krasna.

JOHN LOVES MARY is a Tony Award winner and a valentine treat full of smiles and romance. The show ran for a year on Broadway and was made into a 1949 movie starring Ronald Reagan and Patricia Neal. In the show, John’s life was saved by Fred while in the service overseas. Fred returns to the States first, so John marries Fred’s English girlfriend to bring her to America for Fred. John hopes to get a quick divorce and marry Mary, who doesn’t know about this plan. Since Fred has married someone else, things look hopeless until a surprise twist turns it into a happy ending, proving life can be complicated and funny.

Jay Edelnant is directing this show. Jay is a retired professor of Theatre UNI and has acted and directed in many shows over many years, including in six other states, and three countries. Jay served as a consultant for various state, national and international educational and arts agencies.

Christine Dornbusch is playing Mary McKinley. Christine choreographed the recent CFCT musical. She has been teaching dance at Dance Wave in Waverly, and plays flute as a volunteer at Waverly Health Center. She works as an HR Professional for Ameriprise Financial.

John Hansen is playing Senator James McKinley. John has been employed at Johnstone Supply and Scheels All Sports. As a distance runner, John ran more than 19,000 miles and completed 17 marathons in 16 states.

Natalie Keene is playing Phyllis McKinley. Natalie is a patient care coordinator at VGM – Homelink, and performed recently with WCP. In high school, Natalie studied dance, was a member of show choir, and performed other productions.

Grant Yoder is playing John Lawrence. Grant performed at the Plaza Theatre in Cleburne, Texas last year. He worked as a butcher for 15 years before joining the USDA FSIS.

Andrea Morris is playing Georgia Beechwood. Andrea graduated from UNI with a BA in Theatre Performance. She works for the Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois as a Community Outreach Facilitator.

Sean Hurst is playing Fred Taylor and works for the USDA FSIS as a Food Inspector. Sean serves on the advisory board to the Vet/Animal Science program at Hawkeye Community College and enjoys making his own beef jerkey.

Carrie Pint is playing Lily Herbish and is a sophomore at UNI. She will travel to Germany with the UNI Women’s chorus in the spring. Carrie performed and choreographed at Luther College, and appeared in a show at TCR.

Gaylord Stauffer is playing Oscar Dugan. Gaylord graduated from Iowa State Teachers College, and did graduate work at UNI. He performs with the Cedar Falls Municipal Band and the Iowa Military Veterans Band, gives harp lessons, and has appeared in many shows.

Bill McNett is playing Lt. Victor O’Leary. Bill is in his 17th year of working for the Federal government and serves as a USDA/FSIS supervisor. He also holds certifications in Firefighting and Emergency Medical Treatment.

John C. Luzaich is playing General Biddle. John studied mime, dance and acting in New York and earned his BFA from NYU. He managed the Off-Broadway Entermedia Theatre. He appeared in shows in Chicago and New York. John is the GM of CFCT.

This comedy will be presented February 16, 17, 18 and 23, 24, 25 at the Oster Regent Theatre at 1st and Main Streets in Cedar Falls. Sunday performances are at 2pm., All others are at 7:30pm. Individual ticket prices are $20 for adults and $10 for full-time students. Gift certificates and special group rates are always available. The box office is open Monday through Friday from 1–5pm. Prior to the February 17 performance, members of CFCT’s support group APPLAUD are invited to enjoy a free reception in the Deery Room on the third floor of the theatre starting at 6:15pm and enjoy hearing from the director. There will be a short “talk-back” with the director and cast after the February 18 performance.
