TERRY TIMMERMAN, vice president and chief operating officer of Fahr Beverage Inc., has earned the title of Certified Cicerone by the Cicerone Certification Program. Those who achieve this certification have a well-rounded knowledge of beer and beer service and competence in assessing beer quality and identity by taste.

MARCIA AGNESS KOCHEL, a 1987 graduate of Cedar Fall High School, working at Druid Hills Middle School, Decatur, Ga., was among 10 librarians presented with the 2017 “I Love My Librarian” award from the Carnegie Corp. of New York, the New York Public Library, The New York Times and the American Library Association. She received a $5,000 cash award, a plaque and a travel stipend to attend an awards reception in New York.

Veridian Credit Union is announcing the following promotions: ALAN STALNAKER has been promoted to manager of member contact center. Stalnaker, of Cedar Falls, has worked at Veridian for 11 years. He previously was the Martin Plaza branch manager and has a degree in French from the University of Northern Iowa. STACI McCONVILLE was promoted to team leader in the member contact center. McConville, of Waterloo, has worked at Veridian for four years. She previously was a learning and development specialist and has a degree in human services from UNI. CHRIS DEMORY was promoted to accountant II. Demory, of Waterloo, has worked at Veridian for nine years. He was a training specialist for Veridian Fiscal Solutions and has a degree in finance from UNI. MOLLY SCHMIDT was promoted to manager of core systems. Schmidt, of Cedar Falls, has worked at Veridian for 18 years. She was the manager of human resources and has a degree in organizational communications from UNI. JENNIFER LIDTKE was promoted to manager of payroll and benefits. Lidtke, of Waterloo, has worked at Veridian for 14 years. She was a team leader in the member contact center and has a degree in business administration from UNI.

JORDAN SHANKS and AGNES KRESS, both members of the Cedar Valley Jaycees, were named to the board of directors for 2018 for Junior Chamber International. Shanks is vice president, and Kress is chairwoman of the board.

MELISSA ELLIS was promoted to executive director at Grin and Grow, a local nonprofit child agency. Ellis, a site director at Grin and Grow’s West Fourth Street center, has more than 25 years of experience in the field of early childhood education, a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Upper Iowa University and is a Department of Human Services approved trainer in early childhood education. She has worked as an early childhood education adjunct instructor at Hawkeye Community College, a child care consultant, trainer and parent services supervisor at Child Care Resource and Referral of Northeast Iowa.
