ALAN SIMMER joined Veridian Credit Union as copy editor. Simmer, of Cedar Falls, was a campaign communications associate at Wartburg College. He has a degree from Wartburg College.

ADAM ROISE, MD, MPH, FAAFP, a family physician in Waterloo, has achieved the Degree of Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the national medical association representing family physicians, residents and medical students. The degree recognizes family physicians who have distinguished themselves through service to family medicine and ongoing professional development.

THE REV. KATHRYN KLEINHANS, Wartburg College’s Mike and Marge McCoy Family Distinguished Chair in Lutheran Heritage and Mission, was named dean of newly established Trinity Lutheran Seminary at Capital University, Columbus, Ohio, effective Jan. 1. Kleinhans, a pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, has served as the McCoy Family Chair since 2013. She earned a bachelor’s degree in theology from Valparaiso University, a Master of Divinity from Christ Seminary-Seminex and the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago and a doctorate in theological studies from Emory University. She chaired Wartburg’s Department of Religion and Philosophy from 1999 to 2010.

RYAN BARENZ joined TCF Equipment Finance as a documentation transaction coordinator. Barenz, previously at Victory Motors, graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a bachelor of arts degree in finance.

KAREN MITCHELL joined the board of directors for Humanities Iowa. Mitchell is a professor in the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Northern Iowa where she teaches courses in performance studies and critical communication pedagogy. She is the founding director of SAVE (Students Against a Violent Environment) Forum Actors. For 22 years, Mitchell was the artistic director of the UNI Interpreters Theatre.

MATT MILLER was promoted at Hellman to the role of associate creative director. Miller previously was a motion graphic artist.

VGM Group added four new associates to its operations in Waterloo. BENJAMIN IMMEL is an IT developer for VGM’s HOMELINK division. He is a graduate of University of Advanced Technology and previously was with Scientific Games. DANIELLE WEBER is a transportation patient care coordinator for HOMELINK. She previously was at Hawkeye Community College and is a graduate of the University of Iowa. WILLIAM DILEMME also joined VGM HOMELINK as a national account representative. ASHLEY KNIGHT is a digital press operator for Strategic Imaging, VGM’s commercial printing company. She previously was at Staples.
